Add an image and the whole video is that image, held still, at whatever canvas size you pick. This encodes fast because a still picture compresses to almost nothing, the file ends up roughly the size of the audio.
Leave the image out and the tool draws an animated waveform in the colour you choose. It looks like a music release video and takes longer to encode, because every frame is different.
Sizes worth knowing
1920 × 1080 for a standard YouTube upload. 1080 × 1920 for Shorts, Reels and TikTok. 1080 × 1080 for a square feed post.
Common questions
Why is a still-image video so fast to make?
Identical frames compress to almost nothing, and the frame rate is dropped to 2 fps since nothing moves. Players handle it fine.
Can I have both cover art and a waveform?
Not in this tool. It is one or the other.
